Vista identifing network

Additionally, events that resemble the following example are logged in the Applications event logs:. This issue occurs because the computer can't connect to the primary domain controller PDC in the forest domain after the computer is joined to the child domain.

The Network Location Awareness NLA service expects to be able to enumerate the domain's forest name to choose the right network profile for the connection. If something hinders the DNS name resolution or the connection attempt to the DC, NLA isn't able to set the appropriate network profile on the connection. For more information about how to do it, see Service overview and network port requirements for Windows.

Was working fine accessing the internet and such after I had just set the WEP code to my wireless router to keep off unwanted freeloaders. Reinstalled most recent drivers for usb wireless adapter, didn't work, removed norton antivirus, no dice.

Still nothing, won't even show the wireless network as available then. Bugging out, going to bed finals tomorrow. Please, please, please someone help. Thursday, December 13, AM.

Hi, Thank you for your post. Before we go further, I would like to confirm the following points with you: 1. Monday, December 17, AM. Wednesday, December 19, PM. This problem sounds similar to one I am having For some reason vista will not reconnect to the internet after the computer has been hibernating. It says I have local access but that is all. If I reboot the computer it connectes with local and internet access. The network adapter is a Broadcom Do I need to use that Microsoft broadband network how do I run it?

Try Using Different wireless security option, wpa personal, TKIP, or try using no wireless security, try changing the channel s to 6 or 11, and lastly, remove any previously created wireless profiles, remove any spaces in the ssid, or just reset the router, if you need any further Help reply back, with details about your router, wireless card, modem.

Sunday, February 3, PM. I tired download this fix, but once it downloads it tells me it's not for me. My desktop seems to be the only one having the issue. It keeps losing connection. My 2nd desktop is hard wired into the router and that works perfectly too. Any suggestions how to fix it? Saturday, March 1, AM.

Forget wireless connecitons. I have a Vista Business wired connection which fails 8 out of 10 connections. It gets stuck in "identifying network". After about repair attempts it will eventually allow internet activity.

The "network" consists of multiple computers connected to the internet via a Motorola SBG modem gateway. This provides local access to all computers while allowing internet access with ease. VIsta fails 8 out of 10 times. No problem with device is reported on Device Manager and its updated to the latest version of lan adapter.

How you could explain that Windows Seven simple does not recognize the network adapter anymore? This worked before and simple stopped working.

Im still looking for a reasonable explanation from someone - specially Microsoft in fact, since I read so many forums and did not find anything that helped to rid of this such bug problem.

Looking the output the Wire connection does not work because it does not have default gateway usually in normal connection it is the Router's core IP. What and how it is plugged into, who provide the external Internet service, what type of service?

This kind of information was get automatically in the past. I do not know why windows stopped to gather it. On other hand, I have a modem on my apartment and the connection is provided by a local provided. As I said before, this works without any problem on other box running XP :- But the one with Win 7 no luck.

It might also depend on your Router and the way it is configured when the feed comes from LAN after Routing. I'm currently trying to fix a computer for my wife's work that is exhibiting the same problem. It is an HP Pavillion Entertainment. When I first looked at it I checked harware manager and it had a warning icon for the 6 to 4 adapter. I uninstalled and reinstalled.

All devices seem to be working in the device manager. However, if I try to connect to either the wired or wireless adapters, it will state "connecting" and will hang at "Identifying". There is no internet access and it will not diagnose or repair. I'm not entirely certain what happened to the laptop, but it HAD been working on her company's network until recently.

I don't believe that it had any hardware or software changes, but it was given to an employee's husband to "fix" for another issue and came back either in this state or "broke" shortly after.

I've turned off the Windows firewall and deleted Norton not sure if they can get it back I've tried the suggestions above, as well as from about four other forums without success. It was even looked at by a brother-in-law who previously worked IT, but he wasn't familiar with Windows after XP and couldn't sort it out.

Many thanks. This thread is locked. You can follow the question or vote as helpful, but you cannot reply to this thread. I have the same question 8. Report abuse. Details required :.
