As you can see we are drying up a bit and I still have not connected the Vista box to the SBS domain despite applying all of the hot fixes available.
Can anyone through some light on this.??? Aah but you all may not be able to read the blog if not members so here is summary. I have read and performed all of the hotfixes and KBs in KB but I still cannot connect to the domain. I click continue at the user account control and get the error: An error occured while trying to copy the client setup files.
Check the following and try again: If you use a public proxy server to browse the internet, clear the Internet Explorer connection setting for using a proxy server. To do this. If you do not have a public proxy configured for the internet explorer, then your network administrator must reinstall the client deployment component on the server. To do this from add and remove programs run windows small business server setup in maintenance mode and then run client setup again.
I have check the permissions in IIS for the connectcomputer and all seems OK scripts only permission for folder Can anyone throw any light on this. I see the Mr Lee from MS has had a go but there is no conclusion despite many others stating they have the same problem. Hi Trevor, These steps don't really apply anymore. Have you made sure your server has all available updates for it from Microsoft Update not Windows Updated.
Also, what is the behavior if you try to join the Vista client to the domain manually? Connect Vista business client, successfully join the domain. Reboot, test everything working ok, including outlook with exchange. The client needs to apply 30 or so updates microsoft pushes out.
After updates, clients can no longer surf the net, nor access exchange. Seems DNS related Driving me crazy. Post a Comment.

And yes, the drives are being mapped differently for different users. User B has F,G, and K, and new users have none. I don't know if adding to the domain correctly is the issue which is something I had absolutely no clue about, by the way.
Thanks for the tip about that because the issue is computer independent. What I mean by that is User A can log onto any of the computer and get all four drives, and a new user can log onto any of the computers and get no drives. I cannot look for the links in the network places right, but I am going back on site tonight and will look at it then.
Thanks for the help, Danny. From the server you can use psexec. I would appreciate more information about this also. Thanks a lot, Danny. I thought I had gotten that from Sean's video, but didn't review it before posting.
My revelation of age was actually a bit younger But these days, they're all over 65, so that point of reference has changed. Red Flag This Post Please let us know here why this post is inappropriate. Danny RE: Mapping Drives It could be that the drives were mapped manually for each user when they were set up, and are now persistent. No drives are mapped using CLI commands in that. The setup. I know how to map drives using dos commands and in fact have done so at the company I work for extensively , but I am trying to figure out how these are mapped in the SBS environment.
I haven't been back out since I posted this, so I haven't had a chance to disconnect a drive and log back in to see if they are manual. Can a manual drive mapping follow a user from computer to computer? Thanks for the help. RE: Mapping Drives A manual mapping will not follow the user. This is because the setup. On SBS there are default network shares which would follow each user wherever they log in VBScript is a very powerful tool that will allow your logon to take on action not possible in the manner you are describing.

How do I clear this issue??. I have looked in the registry etc on the Windows 10 PC but can't find any references? Martin D.
